Video lessons are the default lesson type. Videos are uploaded to and streamed from Mux.
Upload a video
- Open a video lesson.
- Drag a video file onto the upload area, or click to pick one.
- Wait for the upload to finish. Mux then encodes the video — this happens in the background.
- Once the video is ready, it plays in the preview.
Replace a video
On a lesson that already has a video, click the upload-arrow icon to replace it. The new upload replaces the old one immediately.
Preview and Free flags
- Preview — non-enrolled students can watch this lesson on the course page. Use it as a teaser for paywalled courses.
- Free — anyone (not just signed-in users) can view this lesson, even on a private course.
Tip:For paywalled courses, mark your strongest 1–2 lessons as Preview so prospective students can sample your teaching style before paying.
Video length
The lesson's video length is detected automatically once Mux finishes encoding. It's shown to students next to the lesson title.
